StatOSS

Addresses and domains

Every page has an address under statoss.com from the start. On Pro it can have your own.

Addresses

Every page is served at <address>.statoss.com and at statoss.com/s/<address>. On Free the address is assigned: the page name as a label plus four random characters, such as northwind-k3f9. Hobby and Pro choose their own (three or more lowercase letters, digits and hyphens) and can change it later; the old address stops working when it does.

Your own domain, on Pro

  1. Under Settings, Domain, enter the hostname, for example status.example.com.
  2. StatOSS looks up where the domain's DNS is managed. Where the provider supports Domain Connect, one click adds the record there; otherwise add a CNAME from the hostname to edge.statoss.com yourself. A bare domain cannot carry a CNAME; use the A and AAAA records shown on the settings page, or your provider's ALIAS or CNAME flattening.
  3. StatOSS checks DNS, and the certificate is issued on the first visit and renewed from then on.

The assigned address keeps working alongside the domain, and search engines are told the domain is the real one. If the account leaves Pro, the domain stays on the page but is not served: visitors are sent to the StatOSS address until the page is back on Pro.
